In honor of #NaPoWriMo, this site offers a poem a day throughout April.
Wandering D.C. is either a visit to a dystopian state or a curse, there can be no other explanation.
Like a Clockwork
A temper tantrum at the White House
a stranger filming as I haphazardly ask that you
act your age
I’m the one
Wanting to keep you
from showing emotion
That isn’t fair. You
were just letting
how bad this blows
isn’t matching the reality
A Covid-19 scare Concertina wire everywhere
would wanna be here?
I don’t wanna be here
here we are
Wearing a damn mask after a 12-hour road trip
looking for parking
and waiting in line
We are here. We just
need to fake a smile walk another mile
while you complain
a bicycle or spaghetti
to keep from noticing
your Dad isn’t with us this time
Poem by Margaret Viboolsittiseri, 2020
"Twas the 'Curse of the Ninth' ...obviously."
